3D Modelling and Design Skills – Its importance in digital space

Understanding, modeling, and design is essential skill within the digital design process. Often the more complex forms and spaces prevalent in design are no longer communicated through solely traditional 2D mediums, methods but via digital 3D assets that can be manipulated, rendered, and animated to showcase in an effective manner.

Charity New Zealand aims to give participants/attendees the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in the areas of 3D modeling and animation, and how these skills can be applied to three-dimensional design aspects of various fields such as digital media, industrial design, game design, visual effects, and virtual reality. Throughout these sessions, participants are expected to have an evolving yet firm commitment towards design and to demonstrate that commitment through a willingness to explore design concepts, develop 3D digital design skills, and produce coherent and expressively potent design solutions and narratives.

3D Modelling beginner Session

Session learning objectives

  1. Plan, develop, design and execute an effective strategy towards creating an imaginative and innovative design solution with consideration of the problems and needs of (audio-visual) design challenges and the manners in which they may be addressed.
  2. Communicate design concepts orally, visually and in writing with clarity and insight.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to use the software (and hardware) introduced in the course to resolve and implement design solutions using rendered and real-time 3D mediums.
  4. Employ ethical practices and innovate where existing solutions may not be clearly evident.
  5. Identify weaknesses and revise work based on autonomous and peer submitted input.
  6. Editing final produced video with specialised software
